Implementing Enterprise EHS Management Software for Energy Operations
Project Overview
Sembcorp Energy India Limited required a comprehensive EHS Management Software solution to strengthen safety reporting, compliance visibility, inspection management, corrective action tracking, training, documentation, and overall EHS governance across its operations.
Energy and power sector operations involve high-risk activities, contractor engagement, electrical systems, plant maintenance, inspections, emergency preparedness, occupational health requirements, and strict compliance expectations. In such environments, manual systems can limit visibility, delay action closure, and make it difficult for leadership to track EHS performance across locations.
CORE-EHS, formerly ASK-EHS Pvt. Ltd., was engaged to supply, implement, and provide onsite training for an EHS Management Software solution at Sembcorp Energy India Limited’s site in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh.
The project was designed to create a structured digital foundation for managing EHS processes across Sembcorp’s India-wide operations.
The Challenge
Power and energy operations require a high level of safety discipline because plant activities involve equipment, electrical systems, contractor work, maintenance tasks, inspections, emergency response planning, and occupational health controls.
When EHS activities are managed manually or through disconnected systems, organisations may face challenges such as:
- Delayed incident and near-miss reporting
- Scattered inspection and audit records
- Limited visibility of open corrective actions
- Manual follow-up for CAPA closure
- Difficulty tracking EHS training status
- Limited access to centralised safety documents
- Inconsistent reporting across units
- Difficulty monitoring BBS observations and site walkthroughs
- Challenges in consolidating EHS performance for management review
- Lack of real-time visibility into safety performance indicators
Sembcorp required a software solution that could bring multiple EHS processes into one connected digital platform.
The Objective
The objective of the project was to implement a web-based EHS Management Software system that could support safety, compliance, training, inspection, audit, and performance monitoring needs across the organisation.
The key objectives included:
- Digitising core EHS workflows
- Improving reporting of incidents and near misses
- Strengthening site inspections and walkthroughs
- Improving audit and compliance tracking
- Enabling structured task management and CAPA closure
- Supporting HIRA and risk assessment workflows
- Improving EHS training management
- Creating a central repository for EHS documents
- Supporting occupational health and emergency preparedness processes
- Enabling EHS MIS, scorecards, and management reporting
CORE-EHS Approach
CORE-EHS approached the project as an enterprise-level EHS digital transformation initiative, combining software implementation, configuration, onsite support, and user training.
- Requirement Understanding and Scope Finalisation
The project included requirement gathering to understand the client’s EHS workflows, user expectations, plant hierarchy, role requirements, reporting formats, and configuration needs.
- Web-Based Software Deployment
The EHS Management Software was planned as a single-instance web-based platform with an English language interface. The system was to be deployed on the client’s production server environment or client-owned cloud server.
- Multi-Module EHS Digitalisation
The solution brought multiple EHS functions into one integrated software environment, reducing dependency on separate registers, spreadsheets, manual formats, and disconnected tracking systems.
- Configuration and Setup
The implementation included production and QA environment setup assistance, application deployment, user profile configuration, static data configuration, plant hierarchy configuration, and role and rights configuration.
- Onsite Implementation and Training
The engagement included onsite implementation support and training through a Train-the-Trainer approach. This helped prepare internal users to operate, adopt, and cascade the system effectively.
- Online Service Support
Initial online service support was included after deployment to help users transition smoothly and resolve early-stage usage queries.
Solution Delivered
CORE-EHS supplied and implemented an EHS Management Software solution for Sembcorp Energy India Limited.
The solution included:
- Single-instance web-based EHS software
- Perpetual licence support for users across India-wide operations
- Deployment on client data centre or client-owned cloud server
- Assistance in production and QA environment setup
- Application deployment
- User profile configuration
- Static data configuration
- Plant hierarchy configuration
- Role and rights configuration
- Administration training
- User training through Train-the-Trainer model
- Initial online service support after deployment

Why This Project Matters
For energy and power sector organisations, EHS management must be structured, visible, and responsive. The scale of operations, involvement of multiple users, and criticality of safety processes make manual systems difficult to sustain.
A comprehensive EHS Management Software platform helps organisations move from reactive tracking to proactive safety governance. It enables better reporting, stronger accountability, faster follow-up, and data-driven decision-making.
This project demonstrates how CORE-EHS supports large industrial organisations in implementing integrated EHS software systems that cover the complete safety lifecycle, from reporting and inspections to audits, training, risk assessment, CAPA, documentation, and MIS.
Conclusion
Through the supply, onsite implementation, and training of EHS Management Software, CORE-EHS supported Sembcorp Energy India Limited in building a stronger digital foundation for safety management.
The project reflects CORE-EHS’s ability to deliver enterprise-level EHS software solutions for high-risk industrial operations where visibility, traceability, compliance, and accountability are critical.
By integrating multiple EHS modules into one web-based platform, the client gained a more structured, scalable, and future-ready approach to managing safety performance across operations.
