Scaling Safety Induction Through Semi-Customized 3D Animation for a Global FMCG Leader
The Premise
Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. (GCPL), a global leader in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry, maintains a vast network of manufacturing and warehousing facilities. As part of their internal EHS strategy, GCPL identified a need for a visually consistent and policy-aligned safety induction film to be used across sites, particularly where worker demographics demanded clarity, engagement, and multilingual delivery.
To meet this objective, GCPL partnered with CORE-EHS to develop a 20–22 minute animated safety film combining general safety themes with customized scenes specific to GCPL operations.
The Challenges
Though safety induction practices were already in place, the following challenges were holding back their effectiveness:
Inconsistency in content delivery across different sites and shifts due to manual induction sessions.
High dependency on trainers, often leading to variability in how policies were communicated.
Internal EHS audits reported that nearly 45% of new hires did not recall key safety protocols after verbal induction alone.
The team wanted a flexible animation solution—general enough to be used across units, but customizable enough to reflect GCPL’s specific safety expectations.
Additionally, the project had to align with brand standards and be available in both English and Hindi to cater to a diverse workforce.
The Solution
CORE-EHS proposed and delivered a hybrid animation model using its vast 3D animation library.
Deliverables:
A fully edited 20–22 minute animated safety induction video.
Dual-language voiceover options: English or Hindi, as per site preference.
Customized scripting where necessary—aligned with GCPL’s safety processes and branding.
Seamless integration of general safety content (e.g., PPE, fire safety, material handling) with site-specific modules (e.g., machinery zones, evacuation procedures).
Final output in .mp4 format, suitable for use across screens, kiosks, and internal LMS.
Delivery was completed by the agreed timeline of April 30, 2021, in accordance with the project scope.
Resulting Benefits
Within weeks of deploying the video, GCPL’s EHS and HR teams reported noticeable improvements:
Time spent on each induction session was cut by 52%, freeing up trainers for on-ground safety supervision.
Post-induction assessments showed a 61% boost in safety protocol retention among newly onboarded workers.
Trainer dependency dropped by 48%, making the onboarding process more autonomous and scalable.
The dual-language flexibility helped achieve nearly 90% content accessibility across all operational zones.
GCPL’s corporate safety team categorized the video as a “standard communication asset” and began replicating it across other business units.
This case exemplifies how semi-customized animation, when intelligently executed, can become a strategic enabler of safety culture at scale within a manufacturing enterprise.
A major oil and gas company operating in the Barmer region of Rajasthan initiated a long-term safety training program at its Mangala Processing Terminal.
