The Premise
Reliance BP Mobility Limited (a JV of Reliance Industries and BP), one of India’s most advanced energy and mobility companies, identified the need to elevate its safety training across Retail Outlets (ROs)—especially around Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout Tagout (LOTO), and other critical SOPs. The internal audit revealed a knowledge compliance gap of over 48%, particularly in remote or low-traffic retail sites.
In response, the company partnered with CORE-EHS to develop a modular, animation-based e-learning solution that would drive consistent learning outcomes at scale.

The Challenges
The client was facing structural and behavioral challenges in safety training delivery:
- Wide disparity in the comprehension of PTW and LOTO protocols across its RO network.
- Over 50% of site staff lacked clear understanding of SOPs as revealed during safety audits.
- Instructor-led formats were logistically complex and inconsistent.
- Recent incidents highlighted the urgency to sensitize staff to the consequences of SOP lapses.
With multiple SOPs and safety scenarios in play, the solution had to be multi-module, multilingual, self-paced, and audit-compliant.

The Solution
CORE-EHS crafted a robust self-learning module comprising 6–7 animated training videos.
Key Deliverables:
- Animated training modules covering PTW, LOTO, SOPs, and incident-based corrective measures.
- Fully customized scripts and storyboards developed in consultation with RIL’s EHS and retail training teams.
- Integration of live shoots for real-world reference, merged with animation for clarity.
- Bilingual narration to ensure comprehension for 95%+ of the target workforce.
- Sequential learning flow: Script → Storyboard → Preview → Final Animation → Voiceover → LMS-ready e-module.
The modules were created within a multi-stage project flow and delivered within the contractual validity window of Feb 2020 to June 2021.

Resulting Benefits
The animated training program was deployed across hundreds of ROs and yielded measurable impact:
- SOP compliance improved by 63%, as tracked through post-training assessments and internal audits.
- Training time reduced by 42%, saving over 1,000 cumulative man-hours across locations in the first 3 months alone.
