Upgrading Visitor Safety Induction for a Leading FMCG Manufacturer through Animated Communication
The Premise
Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. (GCPL), a global leader in the FMCG and personal care manufacturing industry, operates multiple high-throughput facilities across India. In October 2021, the safety team at their Pondicherry unit recognized the need to modernize their visitor safety induction program, ensuring it was aligned with the latest site layout, compliance guidelines, and emergency procedures.
To execute this critical upgrade, GCPL partnered with CORE-EHS to modify their existing safety animation film and incorporate additional multilingual voiceover components.
The Challenges
As one of India’s most safety-conscious manufacturing firms, GCPL had a clear vision but faced technical hurdles:
The existing induction animation had outdated visual and procedural information, misaligned with current HSE protocols.
Key elements such as PPE updates, emergency assembly points, and contractor behavior rules had changed since the original video was developed.
Lack of localized narration in relevant languages made the content less effective for a diverse visitor and contractor base.
Internal reviews showed inconsistent visitor recall rates, with nearly 38% failing to correctly answer safety checklists post-induction.
GCPL required a cost-effective, high-impact upgrade to bring their existing induction asset in line with evolving operational realities.
The Solution
CORE-EHS delivered a two-part solution
Deliverables:
Upgrade and re-edit of existing visitor induction animation, reflecting:
New safety signage
Revised emergency contact details
Altered access routes and risk zones
Updated contractor entry and PPE protocols
Additional voiceover integration in multiple languages for improved reach and clarity. This included narration quality improvements and subtitle formatting.
Execution Timeline:
Project initiated: October 23, 2021
Final delivery: Within 7 business days
Total animation runtime updated: ~4 minutes
Delivered in high-resolution, cross-platform compatible video formats (USB + server ready)
The re-edited video was audited and approved by GCPL’s HSSE leadership prior to deployment.
Resulting Benefits
The animation update led to immediate improvements in induction effectiveness and administrative efficiency:
Induction comprehension scores improved by 59%, as tracked via site-entry assessments
Training time per visitor reduced by 43%, saving significant front-desk and EHS staff hours
Language accessibility reached over 90% of visitors, thanks to additional voiceovers
GCPL reported 100% audit readiness for visitor induction under corporate safety review standards
Feedback from new contractors rated the induction format as “very clear and helpful” in over 85% of survey responses
The project served as a cost-effective way to modernize legacy safety content—with lasting operational and compliance value.
A major oil and gas company operating in the Barmer region of Rajasthan initiated a long-term safety training program at its Mangala Processing Terminal.
A prominent player in India’s energy infrastructure sector, known for its commitment to operational excellence and safety, partnered with CORE-EHS in October 2020.
