Safety E-Learning Animation Modules for Hershey India – Mandideep Plant

1. The Premise

Hershey India Pvt. Ltd., a prominent name in the global food and beverage sector, operates large-scale production facilities across India. The Mandideep Plant in Bhopal, a key site in their operations network, required a digital transformation in their safety training ecosystem.

Recognizing the need to scale safety learning among its workforce and external vendors, Hershey India collaborated with CORE-EHS to develop a comprehensive E-learning animation solution, enabling seamless and standardized safety training across departments.

2. The Challenges

• Safety protocols were previously shared through live sessions and printed material, which led to inconsistent delivery across shifts.
• A significant portion of workers—especially contract staff—struggled to retain technical safety procedures, as found in internal safety audits.
• The site required a modular digital learning solution that could:
  • Be deployed across departments
  • Support multiple users
  • Maintain learner engagement over time
• There was also a need for trackable access control, ensuring only trained individuals could operate within designated zones.

3. The Solution

CORE-EHS delivered a custom 12-module E-learning animation package, as per PO #66032247, dated 27.04.2022.  tailored for 200 users over an 8-month access period.

Deliverables Included:

• 12 animated safety modules, each addressing a unique operational risk area:
  • Chemical Handling
  • Machine Guarding
  • Fire Safety
  • Confined Spaces
  • Electrical Safety
  • LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), among others
• Integrated with voiceover, visual prompts, and real-case scenarios, drawing from Hershey Mandideep’s on-site SOPs.
• All content deployed through a user-restricted LMS platform, supporting 200 individual logins and tracking usage/completion metrics.
• High-resolution export formats for offline access and HR compliance.

4. Resulting Benefits

The E-learning initiative led to rapid improvements in training coverage and compliance:

• Training reach improved by 4X within the first 45 days, as modules could be accessed on-demand without scheduling constraints.
• Post-module assessments revealed a 61% increase in safety concept retention, compared to pre-module tests.
• Instructor dependency reduced by 47%, freeing up internal resources for field-level supervision.
• The Mandideep EHS team reported a 36% drop in non-compliance reports within two months of deployment.

This collaboration demonstrates CORE-EHS’s ability to scale and localize safety learning at enterprise-level plants. By combining 3D animation, LMS deployment, and user metrics, we helped Hershey India elevate its EHS training standards to global benchmarks.
