Revamping Visitor Induction Safety Animation for a Global Specialty Chemicals Leader
The Premise
Johnson Matthey Chemicals India Pvt. Ltd., a renowned name in the specialty chemicals and sustainable technologies industry, operates a critical facility in Taloja, Maharashtra. As part of their internal EHS modernization, the company recognized that their existing visitor induction video had become outdated—both in site layout representation and policy messaging.
To ensure alignment with revised EHS policies and plant nomenclature, they partnered with CORE-EHS to professionally re-edit and restructure the animation video into two updated, high-clarity versions.
The Challenges
While the foundational animation was already developed, it no longer reflected current safety standards or facility design:
Key area references such as “CCT” had changed to “PGM Area”, requiring narrative correction.
Multiple scenes (Scripts 28–38) were obsolete or irrelevant, potentially causing confusion.
Internal safety audits highlighted that more than 40% of first-time visitors struggled to comprehend procedural expectations, largely due to outdated induction content.
EHS and Security teams faced redundancy, often needing to re-explain policies in person despite having a video in place.
With site operations active and ongoing, the client needed rapid, seamless video updates without disrupting the existing communication workflow.
The Solution
CORE-EHS delivered a professionally edited and reorganized animation video, built to JM’s revised SOP and policy framework.
Key Actions:
Split the original animation into two clear segments for greater comprehension and retention:
Part 1: Scripts 1–27 + 39–54
Part 2: Full narrative with integrated updates
Eliminated irrelevant sequences (Scripts 28–38) and replaced outdated site terminology.
Updated visuals to reflect current plant zones, PPE areas, and visitor guidance routes.
Incorporated new EHS policy content provided by the client.
Delivered final versions in ready-to-use MP4 format.
Resulting Benefits
The updated visitor induction videos delivered immediate improvements across compliance and operational engagement:
Visitor comprehension improved by 61%, based on security team feedback and verbal check-ins.
Front desk briefing time reduced by 48%, as videos now provided a self-contained induction experience.
Audit compliance achieved 100%, especially for video accuracy and current site mapping.
Training officers reported a drop of over 50% in follow-up clarifications, enhancing productivity.
Induction feedback scores rose to an average of 9.1/10, highlighting clarity and professionalism.
The success of this re-edit validated how targeted animation upgrades—even without full reanimation—can yield substantial safety communication improvements.
A major oil and gas company operating in the Barmer region of Rajasthan initiated a long-term safety training program at its Mangala Processing Terminal.
A prominent player in India’s energy infrastructure sector, known for its commitment to operational excellence and safety, partnered with CORE-EHS in October 2020.
