LNG-Specific HSE Training Animation Suite for L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering Limited

1. The Premise

L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering Limited (LTHE), a major division of Larsen & Toubro, is a global EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) leader in the oil & gas sector. To support its ongoing digitalization of safety training for LNG infrastructure, LTHE identified the need for high-quality, site-specific HSE Induction and Training Modules delivered via 3D animation.

To meet this goal, LTHE partnered with CORE-EHS to design and execute an animated training suite that was both technically accurate and visually engaging, and aligned with evolving industry norms and the company’s digital transformation roadmap.

2. The Challenges

• With the complexity of LNG tank operations, traditional induction lacked clarity and consistency, especially for contract-based and multilingual workers.
• Safety officers were burdened with repetitive sessions—up to 70% of their induction hours were spent re-explaining SOPs.
• Each LNG training module had to maintain technical precision, adhere to L&T’s strict compliance protocols, and be delivered on a tight schedule.
• Flexibility was required to accommodate voiceover enhancements, language adaptations, and duration adjustments, based on internal feedback loops.

3. The Solution

CORE-EHS delivered a total of six animation-based training deliverables.

Deliverables Included:

• Four HSE Training Modules specifically crafted for LNG tank scenarios, covering:
  • Entry/exit protocol
  • PPE and site preparation
  • Confined space safety
  • Fire and gas leak response
• HSE Induction Video as part of LTHE’s broader EHS digital strategy
• Additional 7-minute training module  and two-minute content extension   based on project requirement evolution
• Dual voiceover integration (male & female) to ensure listener engagement and content clarity
• Produced at industry-standard .

Project execution followed a milestone-based payment structure:

• 40% on script approval
• 40% on first draft submission
• 20% upon delivery of final animation in primary language

4. Resulting Benefits

The rollout of this animated training series had a quantifiable impact:

• Time spent on in-person training reduced by 42%, freeing safety staff for proactive risk audits.
• LTHE reported a 35% improvement in comprehension test scores for LNG-specific SOPs.
